We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Industrial Safety Representative to join our team in Freeport, TX. This role is critical to ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance on our projects.
Job Description:
The Industrial Safety Representative will be responsible for overseeing and implementing safety protocols and procedures at our project site in Freeport, TX. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong background in industrial safety and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs and policies in accordance with OSHA standards and company guidelines.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Provide safety training and education to employees and contractors to promote a culture of safety.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to integrate safety into all phases of project planning and execution.
  • Ensure that all safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are used correctly and maintained in good condition.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and regulatory changes to continuously improve safety performance.
General Safety Contact Responsibilities:
  • Be knowledgeable of Dow’s global and site safety standards as well as relevant company policies.
  • Spend time in the field observing, auditing, and mentoring employees.
  • Intervene on all safety violations and escalate to the assigned Site Leveraged EH&S Tech as required.
  • Verify the correct use of the site pre-task hazard assessment programs such as iPlan and iCard.
  • Lead company safety and compliance programs on site including training, MOC implementation, substance abuse testing, PPE compliance, IH programs, etc.
  • Handle incident response and reporting, including case management and classification.
  • Lead Root Cause Investigations and present findings and corrective actions.
  • Report Non-Injury p-LIFE incidents to the company’s assigned Site Leveraged EH&S Tech.
  • Verify implementation of all identified corrective actions.
  • Attend monthly TOCAS/Safety Contact meetings.
Certification:
  • All supplier site safety contacts must have a CSST or equivalent.
  • Certified CSST: Requirements include a 100-hour instructional course of industrial safety and health training and at least 3 years of industry experience.
  • CSST equivalent includes but is not limited to one of the following:
    • A safety and health certificate (15 credit hours minimum) from an accredited college.
    • A two or four-year degree in safety and/or health from an accredited college.
    • A safety and/or health certification through the American Board of Industrial Hygiene or the Board of Certified Safety Professionals of the Americas.
    • Proven leadership skills with > 10 years of experience in safety and health responsibilities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial safety, preferably in construction or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and educate others.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant certifications preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
