DIESEL FIELD MECHANIC – WINTER PARK, CO

Location: Winter Park, CO

Job Type: Full-Time | Year-Round

Pay: $35.00 – $45.00 per hour (DOE)

Relocation Assistance: Up to $2,500


Position Overview:

Join a unique and respected private construction company as a Diesel Field Mechanic maintaining and repairing our fleet of snowcats, earthmoving, material handling, and specialized machinery in and around Winter Park, CO.

This is a full-time, permanent role focused on keeping equipment running reliably year-round to support civil, commercial, and residential construction projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy construction equipment including loaders, dozers, excavators, graders, trucks, and snowcats.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance (oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, safety inspections).
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and technology to identify issues with electrical, hydraulic, and engine systems.
  • Weld, fabricate, and replace structural or mechanical components as needed.
  • Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and parts inventory.
  • Respond quickly to job site breakdowns to minimize downtime and project delays.
  • Follow all company safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical/vocational training in diesel mechanics or related field strongly preferred.
  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment (construction industry preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Hydraulics
  • Electrical systems
  • Diesel and gasoline engines
  • Modern diagnostic systems
  • Valid driver’s license required (CDL a plus).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions (extreme cold, heat, wet weather).
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Reliable, team-oriented, and strong communication skills.
