Job Summary:
The Facility Electrician Technician I is responsible for maintaining the company's buildings, facilities, and equipment to ensure they are in proper operating and functional condition. This position will involve various tasks including electrical repairs or installations, fleet repairs, plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting, plastering, masonry, machine servicing, and general mechanical maintenance (e.g., HVAC and sheet metal).
The Facility Electrician Technician I is responsible for maintaining the company's buildings, facilities, and equipment to ensure they are in proper operating and functional condition. This position will involve various tasks including electrical repairs or installations, fleet repairs, plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting, plastering, masonry, machine servicing, and general mechanical maintenance (e.g., HVAC and sheet metal).
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform simple and standardized tasks under direct supervision.
- Follow written instructions and established procedures to complete assigned tasks.
- Resolve routine problems and refer more complex issues to higher levels.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance operations such as lighting audits, battery testing, VFD cleaning, filter changes, etc.
- Use standard hand and portable power tools.
- Carry out repairs, modifications, and preventative maintenance on buildings, equipment, fixtures, and systems.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain facility systems.
- Perform tasks based on dispatched service or daily/weekly work schedules.
- Review work to document specific needs, including materials, supplies, and instructions.
- Assist in moving furniture, materials, and equipment as required.
- Perform all work following established safety procedures.
- Work with or oversee subcontractor activities as directed by the supervisor or work schedule.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of experience, or a combination of education and experience in a related field.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
- Valid Driver’s License may be required.
- Ability to obtain a security access badge at the client’s location.
- Willingness to work various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during a shift.
- Flexibility to bend, stoop, squat, and kneel repetitively during the shift.
- Ability to move in a 90-degree fashion repetitively and stretch/reach as required.
- Ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during a shift.
- Use of a company/client-approved utility knife.
- Ability to differentiate colors for wire color-coding.
- Some tasks will involve repetitive wrist movement.
- Ability to interact with all clients professionally, even during periods of stress.
Special Requirements:
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and hard hats.
- Ability to cope with job demands and work environment stressors to maintain acceptable levels of performance.
- Willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required.
